How to prepare

Before your visit

  • Fast 8-10 hours before your appointment - the full lipid panel, fasting glucose, hsCRP, and Vitamin D all read most cleanly on a fasted morning sample.
  • Confirm both of your selected ultrasounds with the concierge 24 hours in advance so we can sequence them correctly (e.g. KUB and pelvic both need a full bladder; thyroid and breast do not).
  • If either of your two scans is pelvic, KUB, or prostate, drink 750ml of plain water roughly an hour before your slot and hold off urinating.
  • If you take a Vitamin D supplement, take it as normal - we are measuring your real circulating level rather than a washout state.
  • Allow about 3 hours on site for Van Gogh to fit two ultrasounds plus bloods, ECG, X-ray, and your doctor consultation without rushing.
On the day

What to expect during your visit

  1. 1Concierge check-in confirms both ultrasound selections and sequences them so the bladder-dependent scan is done first if relevant.
  2. 2Biophysical station: blood pressure, BMI, body-fat, and visual acuity.
  3. 3Phlebotomy and urine: a single draw covers the full 67-biomarker Van Gogh panel including Vitamin D and β-hCG.
  4. 4Resting 12-lead ECG and chest X-ray.
  5. 5Two ultrasound scans of your choice, performed back-to-back in the radiology suite by the same sonographer where possible for consistent interpretation.
  6. 6Doctor consultation: physical exam plus a same-day discussion that integrates both ultrasound impressions with the bloods.
  7. 7Concierge wrap-up: results-review consult booked, and any Vitamin D repletion regimen or specialist referral arranged before you leave.
Results

How your results are delivered

Lab results - including Vitamin D and β-hCG - typically return within 2-3 working days; the formal radiology reports for both ultrasounds usually arrive within 2 working days. Your Personal Health Concierge bundles labs and two-scan imaging into a single report and books a results-review consultation that walks you through both ultrasound findings side by side, plus a clear Vitamin D plan (supplementation dose, repeat test interval) if you are below target. Any referral - urology, gynaecology, hepatology - is coordinated on your behalf.

Choosing your tier

Why Van Gogh vs. neighbouring tiers

Van Gogh sits between Michelangelo (1 ultrasound) and Da Vinci (3 ultrasounds, EBV cancer marker, H. Pylori). Choose Van Gogh when two scans cover the organs you want imaged. If you want a third scan or the EBV VCA IgA nasopharyngeal cancer marker, step up to Da Vinci.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about the Van Gogh package

Clear answers, written by our clinical team. Tap any question for its direct permalink, or reach out to your Personal Concierge for anything else.

  1. Which two ultrasounds are most commonly picked with Van Gogh?

Men over 45 often pick prostate + hepatobiliary (or KUB). Women often pick breast + pelvic. Patients with thyroid history pick thyroid + one abdominal scan. Your concierge will run through options on booking.

  2. Why does Van Gogh include Vitamin D testing?

Vitamin D deficiency is common in Malaysian indoor workers and is linked to bone density loss, mood, and immune function. Van Gogh adds it because two ultrasounds typically include a BMD or pelvic scan where Vitamin D context matters.

  3. What is β-hCG and why is it added at Van Gogh?

Beta-Human Chorionic Gonadotropin is a marker for certain germ-cell and trophoblastic cancers (testicular cancer in men, ovarian and gestational tumours in women). It widens the cancer-marker net beyond AFP/CEA/PSA/CA125.

  4. Is Van Gogh worth the upgrade from Michelangelo?

Yes if you want two ultrasounds, want Vitamin D in the panel, or have specific cancer-family history that benefits from β-hCG screening. Otherwise Michelangelo is usually sufficient for annual screening.

  5. Can I split the two ultrasounds across visits?

Same-day is strongly preferred so your doctor can interpret both scans in one consultation. If unavoidable, your concierge will schedule the second scan within 2 weeks at no extra cost.

  6. Does Van Gogh include hormone testing?

No. If you want testosterone, LH, FSH, SHBG, insulin, or HOMA-IR depth, the specialty Bernini package (RM 1,800) is the dedicated longevity and performance tier.
