What Is It?
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is the benign(non-cancerous) enlargement of the prostate gland that commonly occurs in older adults. This is most diagnosed between the ages of 50 to 60 years of age and is rarely seen in men below the age of 40. As men get older, the prostate will enlarge but at different rates and severity. With that, not all men develop symptoms or notice the changes in their urination flow.
Should I Be Concerned?
BPH may not be life-threatening, but it causes significant discomfort, erectile dysfunction, increased risk of prostate cancer, can damage kidneys, cause urinary tract infections, and more.
